AZ80

AZ80 is a high strength wrought magnesium alloy suitable for extrusion and forgings of simple design such as structural engineering shapes, excluding hollows and thin channel sections. The alloy contains additions of aluminum, zinc and manganese and develops its properties after being precipitation heat treated.

AZ80 is weldable by the inert gas tungsten (TIG) process. A short post-weld heat treatment should be carried out to relief residual stresses.

The mechanical properties of this alloy make it suitable for a variety of aerospace defense and commercial applications.
