ELEKTRON ZM21
ZM21 is a medium strength alloy that has a broad range of engineering applications and is well suited for producing extruded section and forged parts of intricate shapes. This alloy has good mechanical properties and offers slightly higher strength to weight ratio than 6061-T6.
ZM21 does not require heat treatment and has a medium work hardening rate among magnesium alloys. Argon Gas welding is the prefered method of joining.
Corrosion resistance is better than most steels and will endure exposure to mild atmospheric conditions. However use in marine environement is not recommanded without a protective coating.
Typical applications for ZM21 includes mechanical components with low inertia characteristics used in robotics and automation devices, tubing and sections for light weight appliances, etc…
